Kent and Medway Biological Records Centre

Case Studies

Listed below are examples of projects and groups which have benefitted from technical support or grants from KMRBC:

Atlases - Odonata Recorders

We have recently begun to help the county odonata (draognfly & damselfly) recorders produce a new version of their atlas for Kent. We are able to provide them with maps, charts and figures as well as help them with the design of the atlas.
We are also planning to help other recorders in the future once data input has been completed.

Start up - Fant Wildlife Group

Local Wildlife Groups such as Fant often need help getting started and we have been able to supply them with some maps of their site, which they have been able to use to design a recording scheme and get accurate grid references. We are also helping the group at local, events organised by the group to encourage members to record and show them the technologies available (such as GPS).

Funding - Ecoschools MVCP

Recently we supported Medway Valley Countryside Partnership with funds towards an Ecoschools scheme which provides wildlife packs (including nest, bug boxes and recording forms) to schools to encourage them to be aware and understand more about the wildlife found in their school grounds.

Website pages - for Recorders

We have written web pages for the county odonata (dragonflies & damselflies) and aculeate (bees, wasps & ants) recorders and hosted them on our site.
