Camberwell Beauty

(Nymphalis antiopa)

Record courtesy of T. Eaton

This species is now a rare migrant in Britain, most records are from eatsern England but occasionally we can have good years and many immigrants are recorded, often from Scandanavia. The first 2 specimens were seen in Camberwell in 1748, hence the name. The records centre had a number of reports of the Camberwell Beauty in 2006, the most we've had since the centre opened.
