The Kent Mammal Group have straightforward yet important aims:
• Raise awareness of the plight of the County’s mammals
• Promote recording and study of mammals in Kent
• Help to conserve mammals
• Provide a forum for those interested in wild mammals.

These aims and objectives are met through a variety of activities, some of which are listed below:

Meetings
We hold a number of indoor meetings from September to March, with a range of topics that involve both mammals and other wildlife.

Friday 25th January: Pat Morris - 'Edible Dormice' In addition to being the countries leading expert on Edible Dormice, Pat Morris is also Britain's authority on Hedgehogs and Hazel Dormice. Pat is justly well known for the imaginative research he has carried out to increase knowledge of these three species. He has even found time to write several books, which manage to be easy to read and understand, whilst at the same time being extremely informative. Held at Tyland Barn at 19:30.

Friday 29th February: Adriana Consorte-McCrea - 'Maned Wolves'. Adriana is a lecturer at Christ Church University. She is currently carrying out a PhD on the Maned wolf Chrysocyon brachyurus in her native Brazil. Adriana's main research interests are: conflict between carnivores and people; and wild mammal re-introduction. Held at Tyland Barn at 19:30.

Friday 28th March: Helen Newing - 'Duikers - forest antelopes in West Africa'. Dr Helen Newing is at present a lecturer in conservation social science at the Durrell institute for Conservation ecology at the University of Kent.
